Delphine M. Welch was born February 29, 1932 to the late Joseph and the late Catherine (nee: Gemerak) Taszreak. Delphine's first 5 years were spent in Detroit until the family decided to make their new home in the growing suburb of Center Line. It was there she grew, attended school, and proceeded on as a young, single adult until cupid's arrow changed her life. The handsome young man she had been dating was now standing at the altar waiting for his bride's procession down the aisle, and the blessing of becoming her loving soul mate. And so it was on April 11, 1953 that Delphine M. Taszreak took James A. Welch to be her beloved husband, and the two newlyweds began a life together that would span just over 62 wonderful years and produce a loving son, David. In 1968, the Welch's built a beautiful house in the nearby community of Warren that would become the family home for the next 47 years. The young couple moved in, and enjoyed their new home with many wonderful memories. Delphine's incredible skills as a caring mother and homemaker. Some of her greatest skills were those enjoyed from the magic she performed in the kitchen. Delphine was the master of her stove and oven, an appliance that produced many tasty treats and countless delicious meals. If you left her table hungry, you just weren't trying. When she wasn't attending to family affairs, another of Delphine's skills involved a favorite pastime of knitting. Through the work of her hands and the artist within, she created many beautiful pieces,…several of which she shared with loved ones and friends. Another of her favorite things to do was bowling. She and James also enjoyed traveling, a pastime that took them to many scenic destinations that filled their travel portfolio with memories to last a lifetime. Some of their travels leaned more toward the "sporty side,"…like the skiing excursions, and the motorcycle trip she shared with James…all the way to Florida. Delphine definitely had an adventurous spirit, and the desire to join her husband in many of the activities he presented. Some of them were new, some a bit challenging, but all which afforded them time together and the opportunity to create more interesting memories. Yet of all the colors that aid in painting a picture of this wonderful lady, one of the brightest & warmest would have to be Delphine's abiding faith. She was devout in her beliefs, a prayerful woman of God, and truly lived out her life with a reverence that touched a multitude of hearts and souls along the way. She will be missed immensely and loved eternally. Delphine was the beloved wife of James A. Welch, and dearest mother of David (Linda) Welch. She is the loving grandmother of Joseph (AmiMarie) Welch, Jarrod (Kari) Welch, and great-grandmother of Gavyn Reis Welch, Chase M. Welch, and Logan Welch. Dear sister of Chet (Clara) Taszreak. A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday June 10, 2015, 11am at St. Mary Queen of Families St. Clement Campus. Celebrating the liturgy will be Reverend Fr. Ronald Victor. In lieu of flowers memorials appreciated to the church. Please share memories of Delphine at her memory book above.
