Born in Detroit to the late Samuel J. and Betty J. Proctor, David lived in Michigan all his life. David worked at Chrysler for 8 years until he went on to retire from General Motors after 35 years as a heating and cooling specialist. In his free time David was, as he called himself, “a professional putzer,” because he could find a way to fix just about anything. A connoisseur of cars, especially the classics, anytime the Barrett-Jackson auto auction was on TV he would talk about it with anyone who would listen; you could always depend on David to know anything and everything about cars when asked. He was the kind of man that kept himself active whether that was riding his bike or on a boat with friends, he did it all. One of his passions in life was traveling with his family around the country, whatever the destination, what was most important to him was they were together. Wherever David went, he was the life of the party because of the laughter and smiles he put on the faces of everyone he met. A beloved husband, father, Ganpa to his “beautiful boy,” and friend to many, David will be dearly missed.
Loving husband of his high school sweetheart Gaye Proctor for 44 years. Dear father of Stacey Lynn Proctor and Laura Suzanne Driscoll. Cherished Ganpa of Declan James Driscoll. Predeceased by his siblings the late Marlene Davis and Jefferey (the late Mary) Proctor. Brother of Samuel W. Proctor (Sandy), Cindy Bunnich, and Dennis Proctor. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
