Daniel George Currie

Donald George Currie, age 82, passed away in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 11, 2017 of natural causes. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Martin dePorres Catholic Church, 31555 Hoover Road in Warren, Michigan on Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 am.A Memorial Visitation will take place on Friday, December 8th from 3-9 pm at the D.S. Temrowski & Sons Funeral Home, 30009 Hoover Road, Warren, Michigan 48093.Dan was born in Detroit, Michigan in June of 1935, the son of Arthur M. Currie and Bernice Sulecki. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Arthur, Walter Miles, and Michael.Dan graduated from St. Anthony High School in Detroit, and then from Michigan State University becoming an All-American Football player. His athletic career took him to the Green Bay Packers for 6 years as an All Pro Player and was a member of 2 NFL Championship Teams. He finished his playing career with the Los Angeles Rams. Dan spent his later life in Las Vegas working many years as a security agent at the Stardust Casino.Dan married the late Mary K. Rivard in 1956. He is survived by his children Jane (Todd) Bunzeluk, Tom (Mary) Currie, Matt (Cheryl) Currie, Diane Shomper, Catherine (Nick) Stanziola; 13 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by daughter, Julie Anne Currie.Memorial donations are welcomed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
