Antoinette "Toni" "Antoshia" Smith, age 91 died peacefully Saturday January 7, 2017 in Sterling Heights Michigan surrounded by loving family. Antoinette was born January 2, 1926 in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Anthony and Michalena Gorczycki who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her beloved husband of 59 years Victor George Smith and beloved sister Pearl Cichanowicz and brother Joseph Vincent. Antoinette lived a long and wonderful life married to Victor raising 6 wonderful, smart, good-looking, successful children. Antoinette and Vic were married on July 4th, 1947. The Fourth of July became the day for family reunions over the years, many of those being celebrated at The Cottage on Houghton Lake creating many cherished family memories of fireworks, bonfires, boating, and The Dogfish. When she was a teen, Antoinette found employment in a variety of interesting jobs at such places as Parke-Davis Pharmaceuticals, Better Made potato chip factory in Detroit, and Ford motor company. After getting married and raising her six wonderful, smart, good-looking, successful children, Toni went back to work and had a lot of fun for many years employed as a "Demo Lady" at Sam's Club making many wonderful friends. Everyone loved and knew "Toni" at Sams; her smile and enthusiasm were infectious. If she wasn't selling enough of her product on a particular day, she'd buy a few cases to take home; (just check the basement) In retirement, she and Vic traveled to many places including Switzerland, Monaco, Branson Missouri, Hawaii, Mexico, DollyWood, Stratford, Ontario just to name a few. Toni was also an active member of St. Sylvester Parish Christian Mothers Association and Town Hall. She was an enthusiastic dancer and together with her sister Helen, joined a tap dancing group of ladies who performed at various local venues. Dancing was her joy! If there was music anywhere, Toni danced, even if nobody else was dancing. She still swooned over Sinatra, Dean Martin and Big Band Orchestras. She is dancing now in Heaven, reunited with her beloved husband Vic, together reminiscing their life long love affair. When the sun shines, it's Antoinette smiling down on us. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.Antoinette is survived by her beloved sister Helen (Richard) Gastaldo, her children Victoria (Mike) Panutich, Barbara Susie Greenbaum, Daniel (Marie) Smith, Charles (Laura) Smith, Judy (Ken) Beaudin, and Claudia Smith.
