Selah-Mary Stevens 68 years old, born on July 2nd 1945 in Yakima, to Dale and Virginia (Phillips) Johns, passed away at home, surrounded by her family and beloved dogs on September 23rd 2013. In 1959 Mary met the love of her life, Carl Stevens. They married in 1960 and began a family. They had two children, Duane Stevens of Selah, and Donna Allmen of Yakima. A retired registered nurse of 45 years, she had great compassion for the elderly in her care. Speaking of compassion, the love she had for her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild was unending. Then there are the exchange students who truly a part of her life: Nick Huang, Munkh-Amar Bayarmagnai, Aliungua Beeler, Yuki Sugimura, each and every one of them captured her heart. An avid full time hobby gardener, she always found time to plant another flower, officially became a Master Gardener in 2009. Being in the mountains brought her great joy. Camping, hiking, off-roading, water skiing, splashing in the river; just enjoying the beautiful nature provided to us by God. An active member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, being involved in Prison Ministries was very special to her.
Mary is survived by loving husband Carl, son Duane (Sharon) Stevens, their children Sarah Stevens, Cody Stevens, Karen Stevens and granddaughter Zoey Whitehead; daughter Donna (Bob) Allmen and children Nicole (Alan) Harper, Freddy Koslowski; her mother Virginia Johns, brothers Raymond (Karrie) Johns, and Fred (Joyce) Johns. Preceded in death by her sister Vicki Johns and father Dale Johns. The family sends special thanks to Dr. Bocek, Dr. Chenal, North Star and Memorial Hospital teams, for all the assistance and care. Memorial to be held at a later date.
