Johnny C. Flores died peacefully at his home in Mechanicsville, MD on January 17, 2013. He was born on November 24, 1917 in Agana, Guam. He enlisted in the Navy in 1937 and proudly spent his 30 year career in Hawaii, California, Washington, Virginia, England and retired in the Washington DC area. He then worked for 15 years as a security guard at the Naval Observatory. His retirement years were spent gardening, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his daughters Ann (Joseph) Ogden; Elaine (Mark) Kestner and Donna (James) Byrd. Beloved grandfather to Jennifer and Desiree Ogden; Caroline and Samuel Kestner and Amy Byrd. He is survived by siblings Joaquin Flores, Rosalia Imbat, Hermenia Hanks, Rosario Hafker, Antonio Flores and David Flores.
He is predeceased by his wife Isabel; parents Juan and Nicolasa; brother Carlos and sisters Beatrice Ada, Ana Borja, and Margarita Castro.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 3, 2013 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM at Huntt Funeral Home in Waldorf, MD. Funeral service and military committal service will be held at noon on Monday, February 4, 2013.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of St. Mary’s or A Community That Shares (ACTS).
