Betty Jean Cochran, of Fairfax, Virginia, formerly of Waldorf, Maryland died peacefully on January 8, 2019. Born March 9,1931, in Mansfield, Ohio, she is predeceased by her mother, Nina Enola (Shafer) Pace and father, Harold Basil Johnson.
She was a devoted daughter and wife, mother, and grandmother who loved dogs, the beach, and was an avid reader. She enjoyed being a homemaker, raising her three children and spending time with her grandchildren. Her daughter lovingly cared for her in the last 4 years of her life.
Betty is survived by her husband of 67 years, George Cochran; her three children, Mark Cochran, and his wife Patricia of Holly Springs, Georgia, Christine Altieri of Fairfax, Virginia, Thomas Cochran and his wife Lorraine of Dunkirk, Maryland; eight grandchildren, Brandy Stegall, Zachary Cochran, Gregory, Rosalie and Vincent Altieri and Josiah, Olivia and Emma Cochran; two great-grandchildren Jalen Cochran and Jacob Stegall. She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Gregory Altieri and a grand daughter, Hannah Cochran.
Betty requested no formal service and an intimate burial at Maryland’s Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Maryland. A family service will be held at the unveiling of the headstone
