Judy, 82, of Walbridge, Ohio passed away on March 6, 2014 surrounded by his loving family and friends. He was born on July 29, 1931 in Meadowbridge, West Virginia to Gordon and Zella (Walkup) Judy. He married the love of his life, Verla G. Lively, on May 7, 1958 in Clifton Forge, Virginia.
Larry proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was employed with CSX railroad for nearly 40 years before retiring in 1988. Lawrence was a member of Mainstreet Church in Walbridge and of the church softball team where he played as team pitcher and was fondly known as “Honey”. He enjoyed making things in his woodshop and was an avid reader. He also took pleasure in bowling and golfing. Larry was quiet, mild-mannered, well liked and loved by all. He was a great husband and dad, who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Verla G. Judy; daughter, Charlene (Thomas) Horen; sisters, Mabel Layman and Norma (Norman) Aliff and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles and Ralph Judy. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to their many friends and family for their care and support over the last few years.
Friends will be received on Sunday, March 9, 2014 from 1:00 to 8:00 PM in the Witzler-Shank Funeral Home, 701 N. Main St. Walbridge, Ohio 43465 (419-666-3121). Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 10, 2014 at 2:00 PM at the 795 Campus of Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline Martin Rd. Walbridge, Ohio. Burial will follow at Lake Township Cemetery.
