Rebecca “Becky” Yarbrough, 80, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010 in Austin, Texas. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at First Baptist Church, 106 S. Ave. G, Clifton, Texas, with Pastor Jerry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Clifton Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will begin 2 hours prior to service.
Becky was born on January 1, 1930 in Colorado City, Texas to Hardy and Ruby Watford. She grew up on a farm with a brother, George and a sister, Margaret. Her family later moved to the Midland area. She graduated from Midland High School. She married Dan Yarbrough on August 27, 1947. The couple lived for awhile in Lubbock where her husband graduated from Texas Tech. They made their principal home in Midland where she worked as a secretary and her husband worked as a geologist for Amoco. The couple raised three sons, Gregory, Jeffrey and Mark and later a niece, Jenny. They were transferred to Fort Worth in the late sixties and then to Houston. She also worked as a legal secretary in the Fort Worth and Houston areas.
Upon their retirement, they moved to Clifton, Texas where they were members at the First Baptist Church of Clifton. Becky conducted a weekly music ministry to the Lutheran Sunset Home residents, and was also involved in a variety of different civic clubs. She also was an avid reader and gracious host.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan; son, Gregory; and two siblings.
She is survived by sons, Jeffrey Yarbrough and wife, Gladys, Mark Yarbrough and companion, Alexandra; niece, Jenny Watford and husband, Michael Golf, all of Austin; grandchildren, Bram, Xena, Isaac, Gregory, and Rachel.
