Lois Phillips Mitchell

The family will receive friends Saturday, January 2, 2016 from1:00 – 2:00 p.m., at Connally Compton Funeral Directors. Afterwards a graveside service will be held at Mt. Calm Cemetery in Mt. Calm, Texas.

Lois Cecil Looney was born on May 30, 1916 to Dixon and Mabel Looney in Mt. Calm. She married J. Clyde Phillips in 1932 and they were farmers in the same community and had 4 children: Nan, Pat, J.C. and Gloria.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband J. Clyde Phillips; husband, Holland Mitchell; two daughters, Nan Phillips and Pat Brock; one granddaughter, Becky Phillips; two brothers, Melvin Looney and Clyde Looney and one sister Juanita Whatley.

Survivors include her children, J.C. Phillips and wife Carolyn, of Dalhart, Texas and daughter Gloria Furrer and husband Bill, of Hewitt, Texas.

Her five grandchildren: Debbie Coomer of Dallas; Gail Morris and husband Lynn of Dallas; Gary Phillips and wife Denise of Austin; Kelli Browder and husband Brandon of Lorena and Kyle Furrer and wife Jennifer of China Spring.

Her ten great-grandchildren: Keith Cravy of Dallas; Andrew Morris and wife Stacy of Frisco; Mackenzie and Makayla Phillips of Austin; Bailey, Brayden, Daylan and Kylie Browder of Lorena and Avery and Will Furrer of China Spring.

Her two great-great grandchildren: Ellie and Adalynn Morris of Frisco.

One brother, Doyle Looney and wife Charlotte of Dallas and one sister Lola Seely of Corsicana and many, many nieces and nephews.

Lois was all about “Family”. She was a wonderful daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt. She was always ready for a kiss and a hug from all her family. She loved to cook and made the best chocolate pies!

She loved the Lord and it gives the family great comfort to know that she has gone home to be with him.

The family would like to thank the staff from St. Elizabeth’s, St. Catherine’s and Visiting Angels for their love and compassionate care for Lois during these past several years.
