John J. Davis died Sunday afternoon surrounded by his family. He lived a very long, happy life and now he is with his Heavenly Father enjoying his eternal reward for which he worked so hard. Services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors Chapel with Dr. Eric Holleyman officiating and burial to follow at Rosemound Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
John was born to Warren Tillman and Della Mae (Hull) Davis in McGregor, Texas. John
was a WWII veteran serving with the 156th Field Artillery Regiment in the Europeon Theater of Operations. He received numerous awards for his combat service; worked for Gordon Rountree Motors for 30 years retiring to a quiet life enjoying children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His family was very important to him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillie Mae; brothers, Jerald, Woodrow, Hudson and Harold and his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Della Mae Johnson and husband, Johnny; son, Johnny Davis and wife, Zeeda; brother, Jim Davis of Bryan; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Jeff Printy, Scott Dickinson, Josh Stewart, and David McAdams.
The family would like to thank the 2nd floor staff of Bldg 10B at the Waco Veterans Hospital for their amazing care and concern for the past 5 years of his life.
