Helen Jo Newman

Helen Jo (Lauderdale) Newman, 65 passed away at Providence Hospital in Waco, TX on January 3, 2022. Services will be held at Peace Lutheran Church in Waco, TX at 10:30 am on Wednesday, January 12, 2022. Visitation will be held at Connally/Compton Funeral Directors in Waco, TX from 5:00-7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 11, 2022.

Helen was born in Marlin, TX on September 24, 1956 to Billy Jo Lauderdale and Mary Rowell Lauderdale. She attended Marlin High School. She married the love of her life, Donald Newman, on June 8, 1974 at her parent’s residence in Marlin. She retired as a school secretary from Cleburne ISD after 25 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, birding, feeding wildlife, exercising, and spending time with her family. She was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Waco. Helen gave the gift of life through organ donation.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother.

Helen is survived by her husband, Donald Newman, son, Cody Newman and wife, Stephanie Newman, and her brother Andy Lauderdale and wife, Terri Lauderdale. She is also survived by her grandchildren Ryan Newman and Jenna Harper; numerous extended family.

Pallbearers: Michael Newman, Lane Kluck, Kevin Kluck, Bradley Nutt, Jason Rowell, and Gene Wilkey.
