Santos was raised in both the United States and Mexico, as his family moved frequently for work. He completed his GED in 1970, when he was honorably discharged from the United States Army. Santos served his country from 1969 – 1971 in the Bravo company, 3rd of the 503rd, 173rd airborne brigade, he was an E5 sergeant. He received several awards for his service in the military including numerous commendation medals and a purple heart for wounds received in action.
Santos loved to spend time with his family; most especially when he was cheering on his grandchildren at sporting events from the stands. He loved to BBQ and he was a passionate supporter of the Oakland Raiders. He enjoyed vacationing and was known for his bartering skills.
Santos is survived by his wife Virginia, his daughters: Diana Garcia, her husband Rick, Raquel Garcia, her husband Andy & Elizabeth Moreno. Grandchildren: Savannah (23), Rickie Jr. (18), Rebekah (15), Sophia (6) and Andy Jr. (5). His siblings Virginia, Toribio, Vicente, Angel, Bartolo, Manuel, Nancy, Gelacia “Jay”, Calixtro & Augustina, : He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Mario and his sister Gaudencia.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, November 6, 2015 at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Visalia with inurnment following at Smith Mountain Cemetery in Dinuba, CA.
