Ruth was born in Visalia, California on July 31, 1924 to Earl and Mamie Davis, Sr. She was raised and educated in Woodlake, California, graduating from Woodlake High School in 1942. She went on to attend College of Sequoias during the war years. On January 25, 1945, Ruth married Clyde Pugh in Woodlake, California at the Presbyterian Church. She worked for the California Highway Patrol for a few years. She then went to work for Southern California Edison Company beginning as a switchboard operator. When she retired in 1986 after 30 years, she was working as an assistant in the doctor’s office at Edison in Tulare. Ruth enjoyed visiting with her friends, laughing and collecting jokes. She also enjoyed wine tasting (with two ice cubes, please!) and going to the coast. She most enjoyed times spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Mamie, her brother, Earl J. Davis, Jr. in 2007, and by her husband of 45 years, Clyde, in 1990.
Ruth leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ron Pugh and Pam Wallace and husband Danny, all of Visalia, CA; four grandchildren, Matt and wife Lilly, Jeff, Joe and Julie, and her great grandchildren, Brooke, Brian, Hunter, Owen and Evan.
Memorial services will be held at Woodlake Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 18, at 1:30 pm.
