Roberto was a respectable gentleman of utmost character. He was honest, fair, funny, and nurturing with unwavering devotion to his family. A devotion so great that he visited his beloved wife Ninfa’s gravesite every day for nearly 10 years only missing if he was out of town. He spoke of her every day.
During his lifetime Roberto was a proud agricultural farmer who reflected on his life with honor and fondness. Although he only had a traditional 6th grade education, Roberto was extremely intelligent. Always taking initiative, he taught himself English, trigonometry and complex analysis. He was responsible for thousands of acres of citrus and olives in Tulare County, yet he never came home stressed, never complained, and treated every employee with respect.
He was a wise, humble man with a quick wit and an infectious laugh. Roberto shared a beautiful bond with his children seeing us and speaking with us constantly, he was our true & steadfast friend. A man of strong faith he exuded deep compassion for others. He was musically inclined - especially on harmonica, enjoyed astronomy, the ocean, and marveled at God’s creation. He was everybody’s ‘grandpa’ and will be deeply missed by all who enjoyed his company.
Dad, you, and Mom are blessed to get to praise the Lord from up close! We take great comfort in knowing that you are dancing with your sweetheart again. We love you both dearly, you will never be forgotten, and your lessons will live on through us.
Roberto is survived by his sons Jose Luis and Robert, daughter Cindy, their families including Theresa, Karen, Jason, 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, his 4 brothers and 2 sisters who all live in Texas whom he spoke with daily, extended loved ones, and neighbors who treated him like family.
An intimate funeral service will be held at Visalia Cemetery. The family asks that you please pray the rosary on May 3 at 7pm from your home. A celebration of life will be held on a later date.
