Eldon was born to Leonard and Gladys Burton in Stroud, Oklahoma on November 3, 1930. He and his family moved to California in 1938. Eldon was a proud graduate of the 1949 class of Visalia Union High School. In 1950 he married his high school sweetheart Bonnie Ikerd, they were married for 71 years. He was a friend to all and loved his family and country. Eldon worked his entire lifetime in sales and management and retired at age 89.
He was a lifetime member of the Tulare County Sheriff’s posse and loved participating and riding his horse in the parades with the posse. He also rode in team penning and team roping. He also loved backpacking into the mountains on his horse. He was quite the poet and like to write cowboy poetry.
Eldon is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie, his daughter Debrah Gail Adams, his sister Peggy Bragg (J.M.), 5 Grandchildren, Jake Burton(Tiffany), Amber Ford(Mike), Tina Setser(Craig), Stephanie Cardoza, Carrie Veitia (Kevin). He also is survived by 12 great grandchildren and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by their son Rodney Burton, his parents, his two brothers Arlin and Ernest Burton, his son in law Emmett Adams, and Emme Veitia a great granddaughter. Eldon was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Visitation will be held at Miller Memorial Chapel, 1120 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA on Monday September 6th, 2021 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Graveside service will be at 12:00 noon Tuesday, September 7th, 2021 at Visalia Public Cemetery, 1300 W. Goshen Avenue in Visalia, CA.
