Joel was born in Visalia on February 16, 1983 to Julian and Evelia Flores. He attended Crowley Elementary, Divisadero Middle School and Golden West High School. Joel attended Visalia Adult School where he received his Welding Certificate. He was employed at Quality Mufflers where he met many people and made many friends. Joel was a loving father and was great with his four children; Joel, Steven, Moses and Serena. As a single father his children were his number one priority. It wasn’t a surprise to find Joel with his children cleaning the yard or having fun at the park. Joel also enjoyed being with family and friends and was the “life of the party”. With his great sense of humor and wittiness he made everyone feel comfortable. As DJ-Gumby he enjoyed playing the perfect songs at social and family gatherings. He enjoyed exercising, lifting weights and jogging. Joel respected all he came in contact with. He will be greatly missed.
Joel is survived by his mother Evelia Soto and father Julian Flores both of Visalia, Jennifer Young mother of Joel, Steve and Serena, who shared, “even though we were separated, I still loved you as your wife”, and mother of Moses, Favi Zacarias of Tulare, who shared "He was my first true love, he always knew how to make me laugh and I could not have picked a better father for our son". His sister Mariah Flores, Uncles: Sam Montano, David and Randy Flores, Cousin: Randy Jr. Flores, Aunts: Connie Hernandez, Maria Soto, Frances Gomez all of Visalia. His good friend and boss Brad Jackson of Quality Mufflers. His brother and mentor, Carlos Peralta of Tulare. And many extended family members including: aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and many friends, too numerous to mention, will greatly miss Joel’s companionship and love.
