Dorothy Marie Fatica came into this world on June 26, 1920, feisty and ready to live life to the fullest with her husband John. They were married for 58 years until his passing in 2000. She was Queen of The Italian Catholic Federation 1939, long-time member of Sons of Italy, Saint Mary's Catholic Church and the Visalia Gadabouts. In 1953 Dorothy was hired as a clerk for the California Water Company and retired in 1985 as Office Manager. During that time, Dorothy (Mother Superior) hired and made life- long friends with so many who became like family to her…especially her "adopted" daughter Rose Orosco. Dorothy was most noted for her principled ways and her honest, responsible calling in all aspects of her life… Never try to take advantage of anyone, not even for a nickel was almost a motto with her… Dorothy expected much but always gave much more… Dorothy and John traveled far and wide during their life together, experiencing the Seven Wonders of the World (literally). Most would say that Dot herself was a wonder as well as the destination. She loved entertaining so many during her travels whether abroad, stateside or locally at the Sons of Italy hall, Sunday brunch at the Elks Lodge, Bunco with the girls, travel hostess with the Gadabouts or downtown at her favorite Mexican restaurant. Cruising with Dotti was never dull!!! The Fatica home, which John and Dot built in 1950, was a welcome wagon to many, young or old…She could squeeze as many as 24 into her modest dining and living room… Cooking, serving, entertaining and yes cleaning up… and then ready for work the next morning (they don't make them like her anymore). Dot was generous, fair and a deeply loving mother and friend to generations during her long life. Mama, Dot, Dotti , Dorothy, our Mom was loved, cherished and will be missed by too many to mention. Mom leaves behind her daughter Dorothy Del Col and husband Aldo, her son Bob Fatica and wife Susan, grandchildren Ryan Fatica and wife Monica, David Del Col, Christina Bess and husband Jake, James Mazzotta and wife Yvonne and great grandchildren Jeremy, Zachary Cameron, Shyla, Jacob, Gianno, Corrado, and Nicco. A Rosary will be prayed on May 24, 2011 at 6:30pm at Miller Memorial Chapel. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Visalia at 10:00am on May 25, 2011. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to your favorite charity or Dorothy's (St. Jude Hospital).
