William R. O'Neal

Virginia Beach – William R. O’Neal, 79, passed away on February 16, 2011. He was born on August 20, 1931in Rocky Mount, NC. He is predeceased by his wife Mavis E. O’Neal; brother, Junior O’Neal; and sister, Marie Brown.

Mr. O’Neal served in the Army National Guard. He retired from The Virginian Pilot as a Typesetter after 35 years. And was the owner of Ocean Press, Inc. He enjoyed working at the Azalea Garden Church of God Benevolence Warehouse and Food Bank and participating in the Young at Heart senior adult ministry.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, William Gilbert O’Neal and wife Linda O’Neal of Earlysville, VA; daughter, Martha Ellen Markland and husband Gene Markland of Virginia Beach, VA; three grandchildren, William Brian O’Neal and wife Brandy, Stephanie O’Neal and husband Jason Lambert, and Laura Markland, and four great grandchildren; William Jacob O’Neal, Mackenzie Hoffman and Sierra O’Neal, and Jackson O'Neal.

The family will receive friends on Friday, February 19, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Rd., Virginia Beach, VA 23462.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 20, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Azalea Garden Church of God, 1541 Centerville Turnpike, Virginia Beach, VA 23464. Burial will follow at Rosewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Azalea Garden Church Benevolence Warehouse and Food Bank.
