Corky and I go way back and alwsys had a great relation ship. Looked forward to seeing Corky and Norma at the Simonsdale Dance.  Even though he had health issues he always seem to enjoy hisself and looked forward to seeing his friends.
Norma, your Simonsdale Family have you in their prays. God bless you and keep your head up.

My condolences to Corky's family.  Corky and my family grew up
in the Jolliff area.  Our families went to the same Church in Jolliff.
He was funny and always thought of as a clown.  So sorry for your
loss.  Missed him at our 50th and 55th Class of 1962 Class re unions.  His parent and grandparents would have been so proud
of his accomplishments.  He will be remembered in our hearts. My dad Joseph Pierce and his dad were in the Virginia Company in WW 11.

Words can't even begin to express how much I Kelly and I are going to miss Corky. We were neighbors for 8 years. When I deployed, I could sleep at night knowing Corky was right next door. The times we spent playing, "Name that Tune" (He always won), making up dice games, and just being friends, are too numerous to list. Everyone who knew him, had at least two stories that fell into two topics,  times he made you laugh, and times he came to help. His sense of humor was incredible.  He loved Norma his wife, his kids, Kent, Heather and Woody, and his grandchildren. He also loved his friends. I know where he is now, Heaven could never turn away a heart like his. 

Corky and I played football at Churchland HS.  I remember during the summer practices during afternoon break we would walk accross the street to the Colonial Store to get something to drink.  One day we bought a gallon of Apple Cider and we drank the whole thing.  Practice that afternoon was not fun.  Corky alway had a positive attitude and a joke to make you laugh.  Everybody on the team liked him.  


Our hearts are broken. Corkey was not just our friend. He was a big part of our family. His personality was bigger than life and so was his heart. He gave so much of his time teaching our children about sports and sportsmanship, fishing and the love of nature, the importance of history and many many life lessons. We have  wonderful memories of our vacations together but also of the hundreds of game nights and football games. A little piece of our heart is empty now without Corkey, but remembering him will always bring a smile to our face and gratitude that he was a part of our lives. We love you dear friend. Norma and Family, I am so sorry to hear of Corkey's passing. I cannot imagine how sad you must be. I  loved him like a best friend when we were all younger and I always sought him out at the many Simonsdale Teen Club Reunion Dances over the years. What a character! I can just see him up in heaven now, doing his James Brown routine with Jesus! He was one in a million and will be remembered for his lovingkindness and generous heart.
  Norma, God bless you.  You were the best thing that ever happened to  Corkey.  Kids, you are lucky rascals to have called him Dad.  
See you again someday my friend.

What I recall, recollect and remember is how many stories my Uncle Corkey started with “ I recall, recollect and remember. When he started a story with this phrase you knew it was going to be good. He had some great stories and some great hobbies. My first frog gigging experience and frog leg eating experience was with Uncle Corkey. I remember how pretty the gigs he made were with the different colored tape and how he assured me they taste like chicken. I’ll never forget the Candy apple red gas tank on his Harley Davidson. It was beautiful and he loved it. Fleetwood Mac Rumors will forever remind me of him and his love of music. Lessons in crabbing from a pier, fishing, garage organizing are such fond memories. I will never forget that the best ice comes from a frozen 2 liter bottle and a hammer. Most importantly, Uncle Corkey was a loving and generous man who put family first. He will be missed. My sincerest condolence to Aunt Norma, Heather and Woody. I love you all! 

Sad to learn of the death of Corkey.  My sympathy is extended to his family.  After high school I saw Corkey at the Simonsdale reunions.  Corkey would seek me out or I would seek him out to catch up with each other's  life.  He was a friend to me at Churchland High School even though he was two years ahead of me.  He was a delight to know will be missed by all who knew him. 

Norma,  I’m so sorry for your loss.  I haven’t seen Corky since our twenties.  I do remember the crazy fun he and Jimmy C. use to have.  I remember hearing of you two getting married.  I pray God will give you comfort.

It is hard to figure out how to express what Corkey meant to me. I wouldn't be Aunt Amy if Corkey and Norma hadn't welcomed me into the family as if I were Heather's sister. He always greeted me with a big hug and was sure to ask how I was. I will miss his stories (even the super long ones), those hugs, and his unique laugh. Rest in peace Cork you will be greatly missed.

My condolences to the entire family.  I will always have fond memories of his wonderful support on the sidelines through all the years of our soccer team. He was a great man.

Norma, I know I haven’t seen you in years. I remember when we were growing up and were neighbors in Rollingwood! I’m so sorry to hear of Corkys passing. I’m praying for you and your children. May God give you peace in this time of sorrow!         Gerry Graves Garrett

I would like to thank everyone that has reached out from near and far, past and present to send condolences to the family. Heather has been inundated with calls and messages about Corkey. I am sure Norma, Andy and Kent have been as well. These messages have brought lots of tears and lots of laughs. This has been comforting to read and shows how well thought of he was. 

The one particular message that everyone relays is that Corkey made an everlasting impression on them, whether it was a coaching moment on the soccer field or sharing time fishing, hunting or just socializing. 

The one thing that sticks with me is the time and attention he dedicated to his grand children. He was a father figure, a taxi service, their biggest supporter on and off the sidelines.  Most of all he was a great mentor for them and I can personally say that I was truly lucky to be able to call Corkey my father-in-law. 

Rest in peace Corkey.



Norma, We are saddened to learn of Corky's death. We loved him and have so many great memories of him and his family. He always found humor in every situation.  Please call us if we can do anything to help you during this time. Prayers are sent to our Heavenly Father to keep you and your family in His care. 
May God give you peace and grace during your grief.

My dad loved ALL music! Some of my happiest memories with him are singing and dancing, and of course, his constant "who's singing this song?" on our family road trips. I will feel him with me in every song by Fleetwood Mac, Elton John, Journey and countless other bands. We saw Fleetwood Mac together in 1997, Elton John in 2014 (with my daughter Haley) , and Journey in 2016 (with my brother Kent). I will treasure those memories til I take my last breath. 

I offer my condolences to Corkeys' extended Family and Friends. May Peace be with you. I have many fond memories of Corkey from our late teen years...he had a keen and fast wit and had a deep loyalty to his friends. He will be remembered for his kindness. May he rest in Peace.

Norma, Heather and Andy...I am heartbroken by this news. Corkey was one of the greatest people I have ever known. He provided alot of us as kids with a lot of great memories on the soccer field. He loved us all as his own and we knew it. He will truly be missed by many people....
