William Herman Holliday, 90, passed away July 25, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas Sheppard Holliday & Velma Roebuck Holliday Morgan. He is survived by his wife of almost 67 years, Peggy Huband Holliday; his Daughter, Debbie Holliday Jeter & her husband, Hatcher Jeter and several cousins.
Bill was born in Robersonville, NC and graduated from Glen Allen High School. He attended VPI, majoring in Mechanical & Architectural Engineering. He was a member of the Corps of Cadets, the Southern Colonels Dance Band and was on the Dive Team. He served in the U.S. Army and National Guard, Richmond Light Infantry Blues. He was employed by Reynolds Metals Company for 33 years and received six patents. He studied electronics and was a Ham Radio Operator, obtaining an FCC Amateur Radio Extra Class License with Call Letters, W4DKL. Bill was an outstanding musician, arranger & vocalist, playing with such groups as Bill Zickafoose’s “Contentials,” Bill Crowe’s “Richmond Swing Band,” Herb Stone’s “Swing Band” and Babe Barnes Band. He played Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Clarinet & flute. Bill was an organ donor and wished to be cremated. It is hoped you will remember Bill with a Memorial Gift to any Animal Rescue / Shelter or to the American Red Cross Disaster Services.
