William Edward Carpenter

William Edward Carpenter, 85, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2022. William "Bill" was born in Steubenville, Ohio on April 23, 1937. Bill served in the United States Army, which brought him to the Hampton Roads area. He worked as a Meat Cutter for several local grocers and was eventually employed by the Norfolk Naval Base Commissary until his retirement. He was a lifelong Washington Redskins/Commanders fan and a regular at the Pembroke Hardee’s breakfast club and Pembroke mall walkers group. Bill is predeceased by his parents, Elmo & Ida Carpenter; sisters, Dorothy Shriver & Alberta Taylor; and grandson, Sean Lee Sands. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Betty Jean Carpenter; siblings, Diane Dilbert & Paul Carpenter; children, Judi Sands, Donna & Rob Brown, Jeff & Reba Midgett, Debbie & Tim Reibel, David Midgett & daughter in law, Renee Midgett; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. A Funeral service for Bill will be held Thursday, November 10, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N Witchduck Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462, with Visitation one hour prior.
