Steven Peter Frueh, 66, passed away on January 13, 2021. He was born in Norfolk, VA to the late Leo and Jane Frueh. Steve was an HVAC mechanic and was the “go-to” man. He fixed everyone’s heater and air conditioner; someone always seemed to have a project for him to do. He was strong willed yet very caring, and sometimes stubborn. Steve did not go out much; he enjoyed staying at home, playing cards, watching old westerns, and working in the yard. He loved the outdoors and he loved cutting his grass. After a good grass cutting he liked to sit back, admire his work and listen to a good country song while he howled the tune back to the universe. Never was there a time when he turned down a milkshake or a coke float; they were his favorites.
Steve was a loving father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 31 years, Margurite Ann Frueh; and his brother Kevin Frueh.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Stephanie Taylor and her husband Van, Sara Secrest and her husband Beau Bell, and Tara Cook and her husband Nathan; sister Sandra Griffin and her husband Andy; sister-in-law, Patricia Frueh; and 2 grandchildren, Caitlynn Cook and Nalani Bell.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM conducted by Celebrant Laura Barnes. Burial will follow in Rosewood Memorial Park.
