Richard Leroy Owens

Richard Leroy Owens, age 78, of Virginia Beach, VA passed away June 15, 2023. He was born in Washington, DC on June 8, 1945 to John Norman and Ardell Elizabeth Owens (Herder). Richard grew up in the Washington Metropolitan area and lived in the area until he retired and relocated to Virginia Beach with his wife Rusty. Richard grew up with a blended family that included ten siblings. He was preceded in death by his wives Anna Maria Owens (Sarni) and Anne Russell Owens (Rusty), his mother, father, step-father, and seven siblings. Richard is survived by three siblings, Suzanne Eastham, Charlotte Crawley, and James McMannis; as well as his stepson Matthew, daughter in-law Melissa, and his four grandchildren, Bradley Aiden, Emily and Julianna Richard began playing pool at a young age and had a lifelong love of the sport. He proved to be an excellent player and enjoyed the strategy as well as winning! During his retirement, Richard met new friends in Virginia Beach and enjoyed playing golf, cards and of course, spending time at the local pool hall. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
