Richard L. Crabtree, 82, died on January 15, 2015, was a native of Brown County, IN. He retired from the U.S. Navy in 1969 and from UNISYS Corporation in 1992. He was a member of Lynnhaven Masonic Lodge #220, AF&AM, and the Fleet Reserve Association. A life-long sportsman, he was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association, Virginia Shooting Sports Association, and Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, and a member of Nansemond-Suffolk Shooting Club, and Virginia Beach Rifle and Pistol Club.
He is predeceased by his wife Ethel “E Z” Crabtree; a son, Dallis Norris; and a brother, Jack Crabtree. He is survived by 2 daughters, Charlete J. Norris and B. Joella Ireland; 3 sons, B. Neal Caldwell of FL, W. Harvey Caldwell, and Forrest L. Caldwell, all of Virginia Beach; a sister, Sue C. Zody of Okeechobee, FL; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. The family will receive friends beginning 1 hour prior to the service.
