She was born on January 13, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. After the sudden death of her father, Pamela and her family moved to Hialeah, Florida.
Pamela met our father, Vince Groover in high school. They married two years later. Daddy was a career Naval officer, and they and their children traveled from coast to coast, finally settling in Virginia Beach in 1966.
Pamela was an avid gardener and was a member of the Aragona Garden Club for decades. She and her fellow garden club members spent many years beautifying the city with trees and flowers. She was also a voracious genealogist. She and Daddy spent many years traveling to courthouses and cemeteries searching for their roots.
Pamela was preceded in death by her beloved husband of fifty-two years, Vincent A. Groover, Sr., her parents Sylvester E. R. Coyle, her mother, Lillian N. Brown, her step-daddy Kenneth W. Brown, her sister, Kathleen F. Patrick, and her son-in-law, Lee Ray Church.
Left to cherish her memory and loving light are her children, Diana L. Church, Vincent A. Groover, Jr., and David P. Groover. She is survived by two granddaughters, Dana M. Hadley and Ashly E. Robinson (Greg). Three grandsons, Paul D. Groover, Jared L. Church (Jasmyne), and Dustin A. Groover. She was also the proud great grandma to Elizabeth B. Hadley. She was also blessed with a "daughter from another mother", Cathy L. Johnson.
The family would like to thank the angels who cared for Mama during her final months, Melissa, Sunday, Jazmine, and CeCe. They were a great comfort to her and her family. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters in her memory. Because of their expertise, she was assured of two healthy grandsons.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
