Lt. Colonel Larry Arthur Cowart, 72, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 in Virginia Beach. Larry was born in Savannah, Georgia to the late Roy and Opal Cowart. He is survived by his wife, Kinuko Tabata Cowart of Virginia Beach; daughter, Nancy Keyomi Jones and her husband, David of Wexford, PA, grandson, Nicholas Jones of Pittsburgh, PA; siblings, Ronnie, Jerry, Gary Cowart and Debbie Queen all of SC. Larry retired from the US Marine Corps after 30 years of dedicated service, he served in the Vietnam and various other wars during his 30 years of service. He later converted over to the Civil Service as an Aeronautical Engineer and served an additional 10 years and finally retired in 2006. Larry and Kinuko were married on January 6, 1970, they were married for 50 glorious years together. When Larry wasn’t working or spending time with his family you would catch him out mowing his grass, joking around with his neighbors and tinkering around inside the house. He will be greatly missed by all.
A service will be conducted at 1pm, Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home. A visitation will start a half hour prior. After the funeral service burial will immediately follow at Rosewood Memorial Park were US Marine Corp military honors will be rendered. Following the interment will be a reception hosted back at Rosewood Kellum Funeral Home for friends and family to gather for food and refreshments.
