Kevin J. Kraemer

Senior Chief Kevin J Kraemer, USN, (ret.) 55 of Virginia Beach passed away June 9, 2012. He is survived by his two daughters Melanie, Deanna and former wife Carolyn Kraemer of Virginia Beach. He was predeceased by his parents Francis X. and Irene, brother Francis X. Jr, sister-in-law Barbara, nephew Joseph and brother-in-law Warren. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary Lou (Thomas) of Eastport NY, Thomas (Lisa) of Quaker Hill CT, Claire of W. Babylon NY, Joan (Harold) of Central Islip NY, Dennis of Coventry CT, Rosemary (Gerard) of Brooklyn NY. Nieces and nephews Kimberly (Tim, Kelly and Erin) of Virginia Beach, TJ of CT, Thomas Jr (Paula) of NY, Tina (David, Jaycee, Paige, Maria) of CT, Jacqueline of NC, Kristen (Matthew, Payton) of MD, Peter of NY, Nikole of CT, Anna of VA, Robin of CT, Jimmy of WA and Michael of NY. Kevin retired from the US Navy June 2005 as a Senior Chief Engineman after serving 22 years of active duty service. Most of his Naval career was spent on the USS Coontz, USS Anzio, and the USS Arleigh Burke. After his retirement he went on to work for the Norfolk Naval Shipyard until his death. Kevin was an avid, active diver. He spent most of his time diving with the Lynnhaven Dive Center of Virginia Beach. He met a lot of great friends along the way and had many life stories to share. He will truly be missed by many. He enjoyed his time in the water and was completely at peace; he passed away doing exactly what he loved. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Thursday June 14, at Smith and Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel. 4889 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach VA.
