 Obituario de Jacqueline Harvey Lowie
On December 16, 2023, Jacqueline Harvey Lowie, 55, passed away. She is predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Leon and Mildred Harvey of Cortland, NY and maternal grandparents, Robert and Doris Preston of Homer, NY. She is survived by her two children, Allison Lowie and Owen Lowie of Virginia Beach, VA and her parents Jack and Patricia Harvey of Cortland, NY. She is also survived by her two sisters, Deborah Berner and her husband Andrew of Waterford, NY and Heather Gwin and her husband Shawn of Valley Falls, NY. She is also survived by her best friend of 50+ years, Kimberly McMasters of Tully, NY and her family friend/business partner, William Mahoney of Virginia Beach, VA. Along with numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends and her loving dog, Ollie. Jackie grew up in Cortland, NY and went to Cortland Jr.-Sr. High School. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Niagara University in Lewiston, NY. After graduating she spent 12 years as a corporate travel agent in Lockport, NY. When she moved to Virginia Beach, she worked at Sandbridge Realty/Sanctuary resort as a property manager for 6 years. All her hard work finally paid off when she became the co-owner of Fire Defense of Virginia in 2011. But that did not stop her from furthering her education. In December of 2019, she completed her accounting degree from Tidewater Community College, one year after her initial cancer diagnosis. Jackie had many passions in life. One was working out. She was a fitness instructor for over 25 years and made many friends along the way. She also loved to travel and took adventures whenever possible with family and friends. She was a devoted mother and would do anything for her children. Jackie loved anything pink or with hearts. Every room in her house had at least one heart. In December 2018, Jackie was diagnosed with stage III rectal cancer. After a very long year, consumed with multiple surgeries, chemotherapy and radiation, Jackie was considered a survivor. Thirteen months later in January of 2021, the cancer returned, now stage IV. For 5 years she fought hard. Never wanted to give up. She wanted to be there for her kids. To watch them succeed in life, be there for their weddings and to one day spoil her future grandkids. A memorial service for Jacqueline will be held Friday, December 22, 2023 at 5:00 PM at Smith & Williams Funeral Home/Kempsville, 4889 Princess Anne Rd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23462. An informal reception will be held immediately following the memorial service to celebrate her life! Jacqueline will be buried in Cortland, NY at a later date. She is requesting you wear pink (her favorite color) or royal blue (for colorectal cancer) to the services. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Colorectal Cancer Alliance at: https://www.ccalliance.org/colorectal-cancer-information?form=donate
