Jack Osborne Rudd, age 97, of Virginia Beach, Virginia passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2024. Jack was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, graduated high school in 1943.
Jack joined the Navy during WWII, and served in Guam. Before the Navy, Jack worked for Armour Co., "the meat people," where he returned after the War. He retired as Plant Manager after 39 years at age 56.
Jack loved to play golf and grow tomatoes. Before he hurt his back, Jack played with friends 3 days a week. In all, during his golf years, Jack scored 4 holes-in-one; he was very proud of that. Before he quit growing tomatoes for friends and family, Jack grew 50 plants in one year. His tomatoes spoiled many of us.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents Leon and Clara Rudd; his wife of 42 years, Nelle T. Rudd; 2 sisters Edith and Leone; and brother Phil Rudd.
Jack is survived by his daughter Patty Renz; 2 grandsons, Mitch and Josh Renz; granddaughter in-law, Kerri Renz 4 great grandchildren, Jayson, Elizabeth, Malorie, and Emily Renz; deeply devoted significant other of 23 years, Maxine Friedenson; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jack was liked by many - especially members of Heritage United Methodist Church. He was blessed by a dear nephew and niece in-law, Drs. John and Harriett Jones, who remained incredibly faithful to Jack in his times of need. Jack loved them deeply.
To all who knew and loved Jack, thank you so much. He was a special person.
