Emily A. Smith

Emily Acree Smith, 80, went to be with the Lord on November 21, 2011. She was born on June 15, 1931 in Roxobel, North Carolina the daughter of the late William and Mary Acree. She graduated from Roxobel-Kelford High School. Emily was employed with C&P Telephone Company, retiring with 18 years of service. Above all Emily adored her family, and always put them first. She was an accomplished seamstress. Fishing was a pastime that she enjoyed with her husband. Emily loved the Lord and was a dedicated member of Kempsville Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her brother, John Acree. Emily will be deeply missed. Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 62 years, Leonard Everette Smith; daughters, Deborah Smith Sneller and husband Bill and Phyllis Smith; granddaughter, Laura Oliver; great- grandtwins, Taylor and Emily Metcalf; sister, Reba Acree Alston and a host of other loving family members and friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, November 25, 2011 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM in Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM in Rosewood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kempsville Baptist Church, 5204 Princess Anne Road, Virginia Beach, VA 23462 in Emily’s name.
