Mrs. Edwards was preceded in death by her parents James Henry Simpson, Sr., and Julia Perry Simpson, her first husband Arthur Milton Spruell and second husband Herman Lee Edwards. She was also preceded in death by a brother James Henry Simpson, Jr. She was born in Norfolk and resided in Norfolk and Portsmouth all of her life. She enjoyed listening to gospel music and playing bingo.
Survivors include her daughters Linda Bennett, Carol Couch and husband Jesse, Kathy Olson and husband Carl; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 27 from 10 to 12 noon at Smith & Williams Funeral Home Kempsville Chapel where a Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon by The Rev. Tom Potter. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.
