Born July 10, 1960 in North Adams, he is the son of the late Willian V. Ogert and June (Richmond). He graduated from Monty Tech Regional in 1978 and continued his career as a respected Linemen and found his home as an Electrical Technician working for U.S. Facilities on VDOT's Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel (HRBT).
Chris was an avid Hunter and Fisherman and you could always find him doing what he loved most, casting his line in at Broad Brook back at home with his nephews, brother, and uncles, or back here at home with his grandchildren he adored.
Those that knew him, loved him and knew that he would always be there if you needed a helping hand or someone to talk to. He loved telling stories of the times he spent hunting or fishing, and he took pride in his job and would spend hours with stories of his time spent on the job. He will be missed by many!
Chris met his soulmate, Rennee Rochte while stationed with the U.S. Navy in Puerto Rico. They would go on to marry in October of 1983 and would raise 3 children together. Their love story was cut short in 2021 after 37 years together when Rennee lost her battle with cancer.
Chris is survived by his 2 daughters, both of Virginia Beach, Charlene (Schafer) Griffith and her husband Patrick and Krystal (Ogert) Jarrett and her husband Noah. He is survived by his brother Donald Ogert and his companion Richard Lishman of Hampton, NH. He is predeceased by his son Thomas L. Schafer who passed away in 2023. Chris is also survived by his grandchildren; Alyssa (Dalton), Kayla, Chase, Pacey. Alexandrea, Gage, Joseph, David, Richard, Aiden and Annabelle as well as his many nephews, nieces, and cousins.
