Carrie Wethington, 84, went home to be with the LORD on October 9, 2020. Carrie was born in West Virginia to the late Richard and Dolly Mullins Cook. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Raymond Dolan Wethington, her two eldest children, Ronnie and Johnny, and her siblings Geneva, Thelma, Elsie, Luke, and Roger.
Carrie had a heart for loving God and loving people. She always aspired to feed anyone who entered her home. She had a wall plaque that read: “No matter where I serve my guest they seem to love my kitchen best.” She also loved to garden with her husband and canned the best green beans around. Carrie loved spreading the Gospel, singing with the Church, and caring for the homeless. She spent time as a Sunday school teacher and with a women’s mission group. Carrie ensured that her children’s shoes were shined and ready for every Sunday service.
Carrie loved spending time with her family and taking care of her grandchildren. She took her children to the beach when they were younger and she even continued to enjoy the beach late into her life. She also enjoyed listening to music and watching westerns.
Carrie’s life was one filled with love, grace, compassion, and laughter.
To be cherished in memory of Carrie are her daughters Kathy (Carl), Judy, and Regina (Oscar), her son Mark (Cindy), her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and host of other family and friends.
A funeral service to celebrate Carrie’s life will be held Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 2 p.m. in the Chapel at Rosewood-Kellum Funeral Home, 601 N. Witchduck Road, Virginia Beach. She will be privately laid to rest beside her husband in the mausoleum following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to The Union Mission.
