Shirley Marie Savage

Shirley Marie Savage age 89, a 25-year resident of Victorville, CA. died on September 10, 2022 at home in Redlands, CA. surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born on November 4, 1932 in Ovid, Michigan.

Shirley and Elmer Henry Savage (deceased 1999) were married in Ovid, Michigan on June 15th, 1951.

Shirley and Elmer had a very large family, 4 girls and 3 boys. This doesn’t include the extra kids she fostered, helping and caring for them as they found their own way in their life’s journey. Our mom was always caring and taking care of others.

Shirley was a homemaker and wore many different hats. Our mom worked many different self-employed jobs to help ends meet. Then she found her passion. Shirley worked as a CNA for 18 years and loved to help and care for people.

Shirley had a love for music. She learned to play the steel guitar as a youth and participated in competitions. In 1965, Shirley became a member of the La Puente United Methodist Church. She quickly joined the choir. She loved to sing and could sing harmony to any song.

Family was so important to her. Family members who live on to share precious memories include: Sister Leona (Nonie) Parker of Lansing MI, Sister in laws, Valerie Pierson and Claudia Savage. Three sons, Dennis K. (Jane) Savage of Novato, CA, Mark A. (Becky) Savage of Apple Valley, CA., Jeffrey L. (Tess) Savage of Mentone, CA.; four daughters, Catherine M (Ed) Schulenberg of Eastvale, CA., Debra E. (Mike) Broderick of Great Falls, MT, Mary L. (Mark) Finley of Redlands, CA and Lisa A. (Jim) Tate of Eastvale, CA, along with 20 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death; husband, Elmer H. Savage, granddaughter, Summer A. Tate and son in law Edwin Schulenburg.

A visitation for Shirley will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bible Baptist Church, 12626 First Avenue, Victorville, California 92395. A funeral service will occur Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, 12626 First Avenue, Victorville, California 92395. A graveside service will occur Monday, September 19, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Sunset Hills Memorial Park, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA 92307.
