James Andrew Gunter

With heavy heart James passed away peacefully on November 6, 2022, with family at home in Hesperia, CA. James was born in Winnsboro, S.C. to James & Glennie Gunter on Jan 19, 1946. James known as “Jim” by family and friends. He loved growing up on a farm and enjoying life with siblings. He also loved to share so many stories, growing up about life in the “farm.”

He left home at an early age and travel across country to California. Where he later met the love of his life Darla Cassells Gunter who married for 38 years. Jim was preceded in death by Darla, older brother Donald Gunter, his parents James A. Gunter and Glennie Gunter.

James “Jim” is survived by daughter Deanna Scales, two sons James Gunter III and Jeffrey Gunter, son in law David Scales. His grandchildren Corey Cook, Andrew Gunter, granddaughter Cadee Scales and step grandson Camren White. Siblings Bernice Cupstid, Sandra Hawkins, Muriel Leonhardt and Betty Lane Gunter of Winnsboro, S.C. Two brother John Gunter of Lancaster, S.C. and Thomas Gunter Blackstock, S.C.

His greatest joy his granddaughter Cadee. He will let everyone know that was his “Little apple of his eyes”. He enjoyed his grandsons watching his favorite shows anything with cars with them. James enjoyed spending time with his family talking and sharing stories of his life.

James “Jim” will be forever in our hearts and will be missed.
