Sadie Machalec Rhodes

Sadie Marie Machalec Rhodes, 74, of Victoria passed away Thursday, August 4, 2011. She was born July 11, 1937, in Victoria to the late Christian and Goldie Larason Roell. She was a retired peace officer and worked as an I. D. officer for the Victoria Police Department dispatcher for the Sherriff’s Department for over twenty-five years.

Survivors include her husband, James D. Rhodes of Victoria; daughters, Patricia Larason of Houston, Carolyn Barnes of Leander, Virginia Slone of Waco and Veta Johanson and husband, David of Needville; son, Victor Martin Machalec III and wife, Abby, of Springfield, Virginia; step-daughter, Tonda Goins and husband, Floyd of Nursery, Anne Whistler and husband, David of Freeport; step-son, J. D. Rhodes and wife, Julie of Angleton; sister, Alma Lee Suggs of Yorktown; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Martin Machalec, Jr.; two sisters, Emma Rose Roberts and Dorothy Faidley.

Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.

Graveside services will be at 3:00 pm Sunday, August 7, 2011, at the Machalec Family Cemetery located off FM 446, Rev. Terry Bartlett officiating.

Pallbearers will be Scott Clapsaddle, Zimmer Barnes, Matthew Johanson, Gary Clark, Chris Faidley and Sam Faidley.

Honorary pallbearers will be Leah Garrett, John Zimmer and Russell Durrant.
