Millie Burger died Friday, April 26, 2013. She was born November 2, 1912 in Lehigh, Oklahoma to James Vackar and Karoline Neigebauer Vackar. The family moved to El Campo, Texas where Millie met and later married Gus Burger. The couple lived in Victoria, Texas where Millie was a homemaker. Later she worked as a Nurse’s Aide, providing private duty care.
Millie is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Emil Vackar; son, Larry Burger; two daughters-in-law, Joan Buethe Burger, and Susie Krisch Burger; and grandson, Timmy Burger.
She is survived by her son, Jim (Violette) Burger; daughters, Pat Hardcastle and Dolores Hargrove; ten grandchildren: David (Cindy) Burger, Deb Gahagan, Donna Burger, Diane (Anthony) Zandonatti, Darryl (Denise) Burger, Bo (Marcie) Burger, Pam Burger, Tammy Burger, Laurie (Vincent) Garza, and Tommy (Mary) Burger; seventeen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
A remarkable person throughout her life, Millie was smart, compassionate, and determined. She faced life with an enduring sense of humor.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home, and a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Monday, April 29, 2013 at Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Clint Burger, Jonathon Burger, Michael Zandonatti, Chris Zandonatti, Philip Burger, Scott Bump, and Kevin Prukop.
