Mateo Flores, 79, of Bloomington passed away on Thursday, February 03, 2011. He was born February 23, 1931 in Laredo, TX to the late Jesus and Aurora Montemayor Flores. Mateo was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving in the U.S. Army, after his service to our country he worked for Union Carbide in the shipping department, retiring after 38 ½ years.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Noemi Ybanez Flores, daughter, Sylvia Flores of San Antonio; son, Joel Flores of Bloomington; sisters, Gregoria Garza of Laredo, Alicia Esquinca of Nuevo Laredo, Mexico; brother, Onesimo Flores of Laredo; grandchildren, Samuel Flores, Josiah Flores, Alicia Spears, Jennifer Rodriguez, Melissa Bagley; great grandchildren, Carlos Ledesma, Ethan Naukam, Christian Naukam and Lilliana Rodriguez.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Flores is preceded in death by his son, Samuel M. Flores and a sister, Aseneth Flores.
Visitation will be held on Sunday , February 6, 2011 from 2-5 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel with a prayer service to begin at 5 PM. Funeral services will be on Monday, February 7, 2011 at 10 AM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Mr. Joe H. Hernandez officiating. Graveside services will be at the San Jose Cemetery in Bloomington with full military honors under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council.
Pallbearers are John Wayne Olivarez, Efrain Guerra, Armando Arredondo, Samuel Flores, Joel Flores and Sylvia Flores.
