Mary (Perry) Cheatham passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior at her home on May 4, 2017. The youngest of six children, Mary was born September 10, 1935 in Atlanta, Arkansas to Herschel and Addie Perry. Oh my, she loved her Razorbacks!
While in high school she met her one and only, the love of her life, (John) Jerry Cheatham. They were married October 4, 1960 in Magnolia, Arkansas. Over those 56 years, they were inseparable, finding joy in each other and the life they built together. Their life was full, owning a successful business, spending time with family and friends, traveling, playing golf and in recent years, as volunteers to Hospice of South Texas.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, Jerry; sister in law, Brenda Cheatham, along with nieces and nephews, Mary Ann Everly, Cathy Heaton, Herschel Vansickle, Monty Willis, Becky White, Ruth Willis and Patsy Ruth Haney. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by all of her siblings, William Perry, Pauline Porter, Effie Willis, Opal Barner and Clara Vansickle.
All who knew Mary will remember her smile, dry wit, her competiveness and her passion for helping others.
Visitation will be from 1:30 – 2:00 pm Monday, May 8, 2017 at First United Methodist Church, followed by funeral services at 2:00 pm with Rev. Tim Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery.
