Marcus Wayne Brusenhan, a loving husband, father and Papa, laid down his working tools and went home to be with his lord on January 1, 2024. Wayne was born on March 21, 1932 in Coleman, Texas to Ernest and Cleo Brusenhan. He grew up working on the family farm raising laying hens and turkeys. After high school, he attended Decatur Baptist College thence to Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas where he lettered in football for two seasons. Following graduation with a degree in Agriculture, Wayne joined the Army and served in Germany for 2 years. Upon his return to Texas, Wayne worked for Mobil Oil where he met his future wife, Zoe.
Wayne and Zoe were married on April 16, 1960. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Victoria. Wayne worked as a Production Foreman for Dupont from 1960 until his retirement in 2002. He was known for his ability to mentor all new plant employees equally. Wayne enjoyed all sports especially the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. Wayne was a master gardener and enjoyed family vacations on the Frio River. Wayne was a member of the Masonic Lodge for 65 years and First United Methodist Church of Victoria for 63 years.
Wayne is survived by his two sons, Dwayne Keeton (Keet) and wife Sheila of Victoria and John David and wife Sue of Magnolia, Texas; grandsons Donald Wieberg of Victoria, Shane Brusenhan and wife Kellsie of Victoria and Ross Brusenhan of London, England; great grandchildren Maddie and Lacey Brusenhan of Victoria; sister-in-law Sue Brusenhan of Coleman, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by parents Ernest and Cleo Brusenhan, wife of 51 years Zoe Ella Harrington Brusenhan, sister Ernestine and brothers Gene, Donald and James (Jim) Brusenhan.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 7, 2024, 5:00 - 7:00 PM at Colonial Funeral Home in Victoria. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, January 8, 2024, 10:00 AM at First United Methodist Church of Victoria with Rev. Wade Powell officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
