Kenneth Charles Mueller D.D.S., age 87, passed on to eternal life on Monday, August 17, 2015. He was born to Walter G. and Loney Dietzel Mueller November 7, 1927, in Victoria Texas. He attended Victoria public schools, graduating from Patti Welder High School in 1944 and Victoria College in 1946 as Valedictorian. He spent one year teaching at Fleming Prairie Elementary School before attending the University of Texas in Austin and then the University of Texas Dental School in Houston. Upon graduation from dental school in 1952 he served as Captain in the United States Army in the Korean War. He was active in Trinity Lutheran Church as a young man, traveling to Houston for the state convention, serving as president of the state Luther League. This led to the fortunate meeting of Rosalee Haas, who also served as her church Luther League president. They were married September 3, 1949.
Upon completion of his service obligation in 1954, he and Rosalee returned to Victoria to practice dentistry. Kenneth practiced dentistry in Victoria from 1954-1992. He was joined by his son Gary W. in 1978. Kenneth was very active in the community. He served as congregational president of our Saviour’s Lutheran Church several times, and in 1963 was a delegate to the National Convention of the Lutheran Churches in America which merged the Lutheran Churches into one body. He was a member of the Victoria Lions Club, serving as President in 1967 and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. He was elected to the VISD Board of Trustees in 1968, serving as a member from 1968-1980, being President for over 10 years of that time. He then served on the Region III Education Service Center, being Chairman of the Board from 1982 till 2010. Among other things, he was active in the Victoria Cancer Society, and served umpire for the Little League Association in the 1950’s. He was a member of the Guadalupe Valley Dental Society, serving as President and Treasurer. He volunteered many hours through this dental society to bring quality dental care to those who might otherwise not receive it. He also was a member of the Texas Dental Association and the American Dental Association as well as the Academy of General Dentistry – gaining fellowship in 1984.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosalee Haas Mueller, and their three children: Gary W. and wife, Carrie of Victoria, Mark W. and wife, Alice of Colorado Springs, and Carol Mueller Gruen and husband, Frank Gruen of Houston. Grandchildren are Blake Mueller and wife, Melissa, Cheryl Mueller Brumley and husband, Seth, Laura Mueller Jacobowski and husband, Wojeck, Sarah Mueller, Kelly Mueller, Kyle Gruen, Thomas Gruen and wife, Kelsey. Great grandchildren are Waylon Brumley, Theron and Rowan Mueller, Jacob Jacobowski and Henry Gruen. Kenneth is also survived by his nephews, Ronald and Edward Mueller, and Daniel and Dean Hamil and their spouses, and by his niece, Doris Hamil Armstrong. Also surviving are his sister in law and her husband, Erline and Ronald Hamil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Walter Ed Mueller.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 18, 2015 from 6 to 8 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church with Rev. John Waak officiating. The family invites you into the fellowship hall following the service. The family will have a private interment.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Blake Mueller, Cheryl Mueller Brumley, Laura Mueller Jacobowski, Sarah Mueller, Kelly Mueller, Kyle Gruen and Thomas Gruen.
