Elinor Joyce Wallace, 83, of Victoria, formerly of Premont, TX passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015. She was born July 18, 1931, in Lockhart to the late Elmer George Kueck and Ada Grace Roberts Kueck. Joyce was employed by the Premont Independent School District from 1960-1990 as teacher, counselor, Director of Curriculum and Guidance and Teacher Evaluator. She was a member of TSTA, served as president of District II and was awarded the local and District II Human Relations Award. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Ben McCulloch Chapter of UDC. Joyce was a life long Democrat. She was a member of the Premont Methodist Church from 1945-1990. After retirement in 1991 she joined John Wesley United Methodist Church where she served five years on the Administrative Council, was a lay leader for three years, sang in the choir, worked as Fiscal Agent and grant writer and worked with Helping Hands and inmate luncheons. She received the Distinguished Disciple Award in 2008 from the Victoria District United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughters, Jan Phillips, Dale (Mike) Merlo; sons, Wayne (Debbie) Wallace, Ross Wallace, and four grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wallace was preceded in death by her husband, Miles Bates Wallace, and son-in-law, Donald Keith Phillips, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 6, 2015, from 5-7 PM at the Rosewood Funeral Chapel.
Pallbearers will be Doug Harvey, Bob Osment, Bill Myrick, Joe Hoefer, Jim Glover and Lee Caballero.
Services will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the John Wesley United Methodist Church, Rev. Charles Stevens officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 3 PM at the Lockhart Municipal Burial Park in Lockhart, TX.
Pallbearers will be Mike Merlo, Jason Merlo, Brian Merlo, Russell Roberts and Tim Pope.
