Born August 23, 1959, in Victoria to Fernando and Juanita Espinoza De Leon, he graduated from Stroman High School in 1978. Joe was a successful businessman, having been awarded many times throughout his career for sales and service. He owned a branch of Trinity Insurance Company in North Richland Hills where he lived for a number of years until he opened The Golden Trumpet, a successful sandwich shop in south Texas.
Joe developed a deep appreciation for the arts and enjoyed collecting a variety of antique pieces, which he often gave as gifts to his loved ones. He will forever be remembered for his generous, kind-hearted spirit and well-dressed appearance. He was a loving son, loyal brother, and caring father that always stressed the importance of family above all else.
Joe is survived by his parents and siblings: Erma Jean Villarreal and husband, David, Susan Gutierrez and husband, David both of Victoria; brothers, Harold J. De Leon and wife, Tina of Youngsville, LA, Fernando De Leon, Jr. and wife, Sylvia of Victoria, Martin De Leon and wife, Debbie of Pflugerville and Juan Ramon De Leon and wife, Patricia of Sugarland.
Joe’s legacy will continue through his six children: Courtney Marie Garcia of Cuero, Joseph Matthew De Leon of Rosenburg, Michelangelo De Leon of College Station, Trinidad De Leon, Victoria De Leon and Emmanuel De Leon of Hutto and four grandchildren: Christopher Allen Krenek, Tristan Wade Krenek, Lawrence Cisneros and Joseph Cisneros.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alfredo and Maria de Jesusa De Leon and maternal grandparents, Trinidad & Petra Espinoza.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 25, 2014, from 5 to 7 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels with a Rosary to follow at 7 PM.
Funeral mass will be held at 9 AM Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel Houde officiating. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Harold J. De Leon, Fernando De Leon II, Martin De Leon, Matthew De Leon, Michelangelo De Leon, Trinidad De Leon and Emmanuel De Leon.
Honorary pallbearers will be Juan Ramon De Leon, Donald Guajardo, and Marcus De Leon Garza, Jr.
