Hardy Joseph McCullough, a cherished husband, father, friend, and man of deep faith, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2024 at the age of 84. His unwavering love for his family and his profound commitment to his community have left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born on July 9, 1940 in Corpus Christi, Texas, Hardy was the beloved son of Hardy and Veronica Dietz McCullough. He attended Texas A&M Kingsville after which he began a long career in the insurance industry.
Hardy was a dedicated professional, known for his leadership and business skills and his tireless work ethic. He came to Victoria in 1979 to manage Professional Insurance Agents (later Frost Insurance) from which he retired. He was a mentor and friend to those he encountered in the insurance industry as well as a trusted partner for countless clients.
A man of profound faith, Hardy was actively involved in his church, Holy Family Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a Knight of St. Gregory. Over time he served on numerous boards including the Diocese Pension Board, Hospice of South Texas, and St. Joseph High School. His contributions to the community extended beyond the church; he was a volunteer for Hospice of South Texas, where his compassion and generosity touched the lives of innumerable individuals.
Hardy is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann; his children, Don (Judy), Jeff (Nicolle), and Kathleen (Doug) his four grandchildren, Meagan, Brittany, Kyle and Brooke; and his sister, Joyce. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Barbara, daughter Bridgett, and his sister Mildred Farek.
The visitation and rosary will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024at Rosewood Funeral Chapel from 5-7 pm with a rosary to be recited at 7 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 am Thursday, September 12, 2024 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Most Reverend Bishop Brendan J. Cahill officiating. A private burial will take place in Catholic Cemetery #3.
Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Farek, Keith Farek, Kevin Farek, James Hawley, Jason Hawley and Kyle McCullough.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of South Texas, Fr. Dan Morales Endowment, Nazareth Academy, St. Joseph High School, or Holy Family Catholic Church in Hardy's memory.
