Ed Buckert, 88 of Victoria passed away on Thursday, August 13, 2015. He was born February 4, 1927 in Victoria, TX to the L. F. and Lucile Keesee Buckert. Ed worked for Chesnick‘s and retired after 40 years. He was also a rancher, a member of the VFW, American Legion, former member of the Lion’s Club, Charter member of the First Gentlemen’s Club of 1st Victoria National Bank and served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his daughter, Ann Fiala of Temple; step-daughters, Marilyn Stautzenberger of LaWard, Kathleen (Jerome) Hermes of Edna, Beverly Krenek of Midfield; sons, Andy (Lequita) Buckert of San Antonio, Mike (Penny) Buckert of LaPorte, Bill Buckert of Victoria; brothers, Tommy Buckert and Arthur Buckert both of Victoria; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Buckert was preceded in death by his first wife of forty years, Margie B. Buckert and second wife of fifteen years, Elinor Hauschild Thompson Buckert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 16, 2015 from 3-5 PM at Rosewood Funeral Chapels. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM on Monday, August 17, 2015 at Rosewood Funeral Chapel with Rev. Jim Pearson officiating. Interment with flag folding under the auspices of the Victoria Veterans Council will be in Resurrection Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Sam Fiala, Scott Williams, Doug Buckert, Paul Still, Andy McCracken, Luke Horton, Michael Valdez, Keith Kurtz and Roger Kurtz.
Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Kurtz, Jimmy Barta, Tony Koliba, Joey Stastny and Gary Pribyl.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of South Texas or American Cancer Society.
