Dennis Arthur Wallace Jr., 83, of Mission Valley, Texas went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on January 13, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at Rocky Creek Baptist Church located in Mission Valley, Texas on Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow the funeral, and visitation and lunch will take place afterward at Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
Denny was born in Austin, Texas in 1934. He graduated from Austin High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin.
Denny was lovingly and faithfully cared for throughout his 60 years of marriage, and his final days, by his wife Roberta Elene Wallace (Smith).
Denny made his career at South Texas Electric and Central Power and Light. He also served as a Mess Sergeant in the Texas National Guard at Fort Hood. He was a talented singer, draftsman, house builder, woodworker and guitar builder.
Denny was a member of Rocky Creek Baptist Church for 45 years. Over the years he served as a deacon, teacher and music leader. Denny’s beautiful voice was a blessing to the church as he regularly sang at services. He was also instrumental in construction efforts to accommodate church growth. He was known for the joy he possessed as a result of his salvation, and spent several years sharing the gospel at local fairs and public events as part of Amazing Grace Ministries.
Denny is survived by his wife Roberta, sister Carole Ann Wallace, daughter Debbie Vaughn and her husband Glenn, son Dean Wallace, son Cody Wallace and his wife Patty, daughter Brenda Nutt and her husband Frank, granddaughter Randi Furman and her husband Austin, grandson Matthew Vaughn and his wife Melissa, grandsons Jake Wallace, Drew Wallace and Blake Wallace, and great-grandsons Miles Vaughn and Brody Vaughn. He was preceded in death by his parents Dennis and Ruby Wallace, brother Eddie Wallace, and his sons Marvin Wallace and Shannon Wallace.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rocky Creek Baptist Church in Mission Valley, Texas.
