Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He was a member of the American Legion. In his youth, he was a bare back bronc rider and roper as well as River Patrol for the US government. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean Peroni, on March 5, 1947 in the Rio Grande Valley. They moved to Victoria in 1961 and raised their 9 gifts from Heaven with love and taught them respect and hardwork. He was a retired heavy duty diesel mechanic which left him time for gardening, loving his animals and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dora Raye Finley, his wife of 57 years, Betty Jean Finley, his son John Finley, his daughter Nora Jean Stolz, his grandson Kenneth Wright II, his grandson Nicholas Verret, his sisters, Elsie Haynes and Lillie Warner; his brothers Wesley Finley and Teague Finley; and great great grandchildren, Serenity Norman and Faith Norman.
He is survived by his son, Chuck and wife Mindy Finley of Needville; daughter Raye Parkinson and husband Preston of Matagorda, daughter Suzette Young and husband Rex of Hungerford, daughter Sabrina Verret and husband Nelson of Victoria, daughter Mary Jo Woods of Belton, daughter Debra Johnston and husband Houston of Vanderbilt, and daughter Lucy Young and husband Bart of Victoria; sister, Marie Varnon of Dayton;

Visitation will be held 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, April 24, 2014 at Colonial Funeral Home, with the Rev. Shaenelle Johnston officiating. Burial will follow at Wood Hi Cemetery, with Full Military Honors.
Serving as pallbearers will be Cody Hubbell, Cameron Parkinson, Michael Cornett, Seth Verret, Dakota Stolz, Colten Vincik, Jarred Vincik and Luke Arreguin.
Honorary Pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
