Carolyn J. Shimek, 57, of Victoria, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2015. She was born on March 17, 1958 in Hallettsville, Texas to the late John Henke, Sr. and Lucy Klekar Henke. Carolyn worked many years as an attendance clerk for St. Joseph High School and as a teacher’s aide for Nazareth Academy.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband, Michael Shimek of Victoria; children, Tamara Shimek Segura and husband Gilbert Segura, III, Nathan Shimek, all of Austin, and Brianna Shimek of College Station; grandchild, Lyric Segura; sisters, Margaret (Leon) Steffek, Patricia Mladenka, all of Hallettsville, Frances (Leonard) Pesek of Shiner, Dorothy (Fred) Kubesch of Victoria, Bernadette Pokluda of Houston, Annette (Duane) Boone of Yoakum, Geraldine Pavelka of Priddy and Alice (Ken) Shimek of Ohio; brothers, John (Sherry) Henke, Jr., Joe (Ana) Henke, all of Hallettsville; and sister-in-law, Elma Henke of Victoria.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Stephen Henke, and brother in law, Philip Mladenka.
The family will receive guests at a visitation from 6 to 7 pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral followed by a Rosary to be recited at 7 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held 2:00 pm, Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at Our Lady of Victory Cathedral with the Rev. Gary Janak and Monsignor Jim Henke officiating.
Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Ken Lucke, Lonnie Koehl, Larry Svab, Dave Elliot, Marvin Grahmann and Bruce Bludau. Honorary pallbearers will be all Nieces and Nephews and students from St. Joseph High School and Nazareth Academy.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph High School, Nazareth Academy or Our Lady of Victory School.
