Betty Alice Williamson, 88, went to be with her heavenly Father and her beloved husband, David on Saturday morning, September 11, 2021. Betty was born October 20, 1932 to Leo J. and Virginia Monasmith Rohlmeier in Pawnee City, Nebraska. Her early childhood was spent on a farm with her parents and grandfather. The family was struggling financially due to the depression and the starting of WWII. There was one winter when she and her father contacted Scarlet Fever and they were both quarantined for 6 weeks. God totally healed both of them from this terrible disease.
Betty married the love of her life, David “Dave” Williamson, on May 18, 1952. She loved her Dave and they were married 60 years when God called Dave home in January 2013. They lived in various states, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas. Betty was a pastor’s wife, a teacher, a musician, an intercessor and a servant of God.
Betty completed High School. Later in life she went back to school and in 1995 graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God University in Waxahachie, Texas. At age 17 she began teaching in a rural one room school. She taught school in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas. Betty was one of the founding teachers at Faith Academy. Betty enjoyed teaching school because of her love for children and education. Her favorite verse for all her students was Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” She loved to minister to the residents of Restoration House Ministries, in nursing homes and prisons. She always would tell us that her gift and calling from God was to teach. She also loved playing the piano and the accordion. Betty was devoted to family and community.
She is survived by her daughters, Ginny Helms and her husband. Pastor Larry, Diane Cannon, Betty Burress and her husband, Pastor Richard, and Tamra Cash and her husband Curt; her grandchildren, Jennifer Helms-Wiggins (Vincent), Loraleigh Harris, Anastasia Willis (Rowdy), Amber Carlisle, Andrew Cash (Helen), Alex Cash (Jobie), Evan Cannon (Tina), John Cannon (Kolleen), David Burress (Randa), Sundi Burress and her great-grandchildren, Allicyn Harris, Hudson Harris, Abigail Castellano, Ryleigh Castellano, Hunter Willis, Tanner Willis, Connor Willis, Vinnie Wiggins, Layla Burress, Rylee Potts, Chloe Carlisle, Shane Carlisle, Landry Cash, Easton Cash, Merritt Cash, Kensi Cash, Norah Cannon and River Cannon; her brothers, Gary Rohlmeier and his wife, Lyla; Pastor Terry Rohlmeier and his wife, Margaret; nieces and nephews, Courtney Piatt, Hugh Allen Piatt II (Shannon), Whitney Warren (Paul), Mike Rohlmeier (Diana), Mark Rohlmeier (Cindy), Wendy Phillips, Keith Rohlmeier (Lisa), Kurt Rohlmeier (Adrianna), Kayla Lloyd (Travis) and Marla Barnett (Barney). Betty also had many great-nieces, great nephews, cousins and lots of friends …FAMILY…who will cherish her memory. Betty is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, her brother, Pastor William and Murlene Rohlmeier, and sister, Vicki Piatt.
Betty was an ordained minister with the Foursquare Church denomination, Betty was a treasure and valued member at Faith Family Church in Victoria, Texas. She received Jesus at 9 years of age and throughout her life pointed others to Christ, always ministering to anyone who would listen, which included the precious people in Guatemala. She was very passionate about her walk with God. She would read her Bible and pray every day. She also was a faithful volunteer serving weekly at her church, even volunteering in the accounting office the day before she went to Heaven. Her favorite word – JOY – Jesus, others, yourself. . . .
Betty wrote a book entitled Love and Enjoy the Journey, which was published in 2021. It’s a book about her life and ministry and the importance of prayer in all situations.
